All of this plus live music from local troubadour, Glen Waldek, will culminate in a burrow-side celebration.  Will Tim see his shadow?  Will he predict an early spring or six more weeks of winter?  Everyone is invited to be on hand to find out and have a great time.

FREE LEGAL ADVICE OFFERED BY PHILADELPHIA BAR ASSOCIATION FEBRUARY 20

The Philadelphia Bar Association will offer free legal advice to residents of Philadelphia and the surrounding counties on Wednesday, February 20, between 5 and 8 p.m.  Members of the public can access the service by calling the Association’s LegalLine P.M. hotline at (215) 238-6333.
Area residents seeking confidential legal advice will be able to speak for free with a volunteer attorney from the Philadelphia Bar Association.  Attorneys are available to offer information about any aspect of the law including family law, landlord-tenant, workers’ compensation and employment law, among other topics.
LegalLine P.M. is a public service sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association, providing residents with free, quick and accurate legal advice during convenient evening hours.  LegalLine P.M. is offered on the third Wednesday of every month from 5 to 8 p.m.  The program has existed for nearly 20 years, allowing volunteer attorneys to help thousands of callers through direct service or by referring them to an appropriate source.
In addition, during regular work hours, the Philadelphia Bar Association offers another program -- the Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) -- which provides lawyer referrals to area residents.  Staff attorneys take calls from the general public and refer callers to attorneys in private practice for a 30-minute consultation, for which the attorney agrees to charge a drastically reduced fee of $30.
If callers do not need an attorney or cannot afford one, they will be directed to a legal service organization, agency or other resource for assistance.  LRIS is available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., by calling (215) 238-6333.
Founded in 1802, the 13,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association is the oldest association of lawyers in the United States.

FREE H.E.L.P. Services Available

Ever wish you had a friend or relative to help you with some household or personal problem that you wish to solve?  Well, you might be able to find such a person through a new program that St. James United Church of Christ in Havertown has established:  H.E.L.P.  The acronym stands for Helping/Healing, Educating/Enriching, Learning/Listening, Planning/Problem solving, and the H.E.L.P. program is the brainchild of Rev. Lynn Lampman.
Pastor Lynn has been at St. James Havertown for almost three years now, and among her many missions is for the members of the church to reach out and give to the community.  Since so many at St. James have useful skills and talents, Pastor Lynn thought that H.E.L.P. would be a great way for members to live their faith while addressing the real needs of our neighbors.  The H.E.L.P. program will connect community members with volunteers from St. James, and they will meet at mutually convenient times at the church's lovely facilities at 135 Myrtle Avenue in Havertown.  There is never a charge for using H.E.L.P. services.
If you want more information, call St. James UCC Havertown at 610-446-3036.  Someone will answer your questions about the program and help to match you with a "talent sharer" who has volunteered to help in her/his area of expertise.
St. James members have years of experience in their fields, whether it be organizing, writing a new resume, finding the right college for yourself or your child, supporting you through a difficult patch, helping you find and develop a new and satisfying hobby, and many more.  In addition, St. James says its volunteers are joyful and enthusiastic.

Teens with ADHD often have challenges that family, friends and peers don’t understand.  Chester County/ Main Line CHADD (CCML CHADD) organizes and supports an interactive group for teens that meets once a month in Exton and is facilitated by a professional with expertise in dealing with the issues that arise when a diagnosis of ADHD is present.
If your teen is struggling with ADHD related issues and would benefit from talking with other teens who understand those struggles, consider bringing them to this group designed specifically for them.  Parents must stay on the premises while their child is in the group.  A CCML CHADD board member will also be on site to answer questions and to facilitate networking and resource sharing for the parents.
Meetings are held at Exton Baptist Church, 141 E. Swedesford Road in Exton on the third Thursday of the month from 7:30-8:30 p.m.   The next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 20.
For more information about the teen group or any of our other groups that help families dealing with ADHD, visit www.chadd.net/222  or call 610-429-4060.

AT THE NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER

Visitors of all ages are encouraged to join the National Constitution Center for a special daylong celebration commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. and his lifelong dedication to service, as well as the 57th Presidential Inauguration on Monday, January 21, 2013.  In honor of the “double holiday,” admission to the Center is FREE, courtesy PwC.
In tribute to the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., the Center will join in the 18th Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service with service projects, live performances, and craft activities from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  In the spirit of Dr. King, participants who have registered with the Greater Philadelphia Day of Service will participate in a quilting and sewing project that benefits the Women Against Abuse shelter.  This local nonprofit provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, legal services, behavioral healthcare, advocacy, and education to victims of domestic violence.  Participants will sew quilts and baby blankets for those in need.  Visitors to the Center on MLK Day can sew pillows for the shelter without registering in advance for the project.
At 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the F.M. Kirby Auditorium, families can sing along with “Two of a Kind,” an award-winning, nationally touring, husband-wife duo, during an interactive musical program.  Focusing on themes related to Martin Luther King, Jr., the performance will encourage participation through songs, sign language, movement, and stories.  In addition, students from local colleges and local actors will read aloud Martin Luther King, Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech in the F.M. Kirby Auditorium at 1:00 p.m.  A Unity Choir comprised of voices from Congregation M’kor Shalom in Cherry Hill, NJ, Antioch Baptist Church, Morningstar Baptist Church, Kerygma, Bethel Baptist Church, Har Sinai Temple of Pennington, NJ, H.E.R.I.T.A.G.E., Inc. of Plainfield, NJ and First Baptist of Somerset, NJ, will perform at 3:00 p.m. in the Grand Hall Lobby.  The ensemble will sing music that ranges from the most high-spirited Gospel music, to stimulating songs of freedom and uplifting Jewish folk music.
Visitors also can enjoy programs throughout the day in the Grand Hall Lobby, including a “Talk Back Board” where they can post responses to questions about diversity and citizenship, make crafts such as “I Have a Dream” mobiles, and learn about Dr. King’s vision of himself as an agent of service and how that legacy lives on today.
This year marks the second time that Martin Luther King, Jr. Day has coincided with a presidential inauguration.  The first was President Bill Clinton's second inauguration on Monday, January 20, 1997.
To commemorate Inauguration Day, visitors can watch the second inauguration of President Barack Obama on screens throughout the museum, including screens on the Grand Hall Overlook and in the F.M. Kirby Auditorium.  In addition, visitors can put their knowledge to the test during Presidential Trivia, make presidential-themed crafts, and have their photo taken as they recite the official Presidential Oath of Office.

The film will be followed by a question and answer session at 4p.m. with the film's director, Jeffrey Schneider, who will join the audience via Skype from California; and Kerith Spencer-Shapiro.
Admission is free but donations will be accepted to support the film and the American Conference of Cantors.
