Swarthmore Travels: Journeys through Study Abroad
Wednesday, February 23, 2011, 4:00 p.m.

Swarthmore College - McCabe Library

Riding camels, drinking mate, dancing and drumming are some of the experiences shared by Swarthmore students who have had the opportunity to study abroad. In recent years, students have successfully completed study abroad in more than a hundred different programs organized in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Continental Europe, the English-speaking world (Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand), Latin America and Oceania. Approximately forty percent of Swarthmore students study abroad during their undergraduate careers.

To recognize the variety of student cultural explorations, the Off Campus Study office and the Library are exhibiting mementos and ephemera from students who have recently returned from programs overseas.

On Wednesday, February 23 the library is hosting a Study Abroad Party, starting at 4p.m.. Representatives from the six Swarthmore sponsored programs, Buenos Aires, Cloud Forest, Ghana, Grenoble, Krakow, and Northern Ireland will be available for questions and discussion.

Take a photographic journey with Rhoda Maurer, Assistant Curator and Greenhouse Manager for the Scott Arboretum, through the desert of Death Valley up the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevada range and over Tioga Pass into Yosemite Valley.
