FREE Workshops For Those Who Are Job Searching

MyCareerTransitions Announces Topics for February and March Forums at Penn State Great Valley Campus

WHAT/WHEN
February 12, 2011:     You Are a Brand – Think Like One in Your Job Search
Like it or not, you are a brand—even if you disagree, don’t want to be, or do nothing about it.  And instead of a big advertising budget, you probably only have your reputation, network, and a resume. Do you really understand what your brand is?  Why should a company pick you?  Stop and rethink your positioning before inefficiently spending more of your time and other resources.

Presented by Bart Ruff, the founder of MyCareerTransitions, who is passionate about building brands, marketing and helping others.  He is senior manager of brand development and consumer insight for Retail Brand Group, a division of Sodexho that creates and executes restaurant brands. Previously, he held marketing positions with Miller Beer and HBO.  He holds an MBA in marketing from Penn State.

March 12, 2011:  How to Keep Your Job Search Vibrant and Effective
Walk through the five stages in the job search funnel. Discover the activities critical to each stage and the tools and resources you will need at each stage. This interactive workshop will give you new ideas, motivation and make your job search more effective.

Presented by Amy Dinning who is a training and development professional. She has created and facilitated training to all organizational levels, most recently at AstraZeneca in the Clinical Education and Learning Department. Amy creates interactive and enjoyable environments that support learning. She created Jump Start Your Job Search, workshops that provide help and hope to those in job transition.  Amy holds a master’s degree in Instructional Systems and Design from Penn State.

WHERE
MyCareerTransitions meetings/forums are held the second Saturday of the month, 9:45 – 11:45 a.m., at Penn State’s Great Valley campus, Musser Auditorium, 30 East Swedesford Road, Malvern, Pa, 19355. There is no meeting in August or December.

WHY
MyCareerTransitions was started in 2005 by Penn State alum Bart Ruff. In the past five years, the group has helped more than 4,000 area professionals navigate job transition. The group has accomplished this without funding; it relies on the efforts of a dozen volunteers who contribute their time and talent as a way to “pay it forward” and help others. Today, the meetings are presented in partnership with Penn State Great Valley’s Alumni Society.

MyCareerTransitions workshops are FREE but advanced registration is required.  For more information or to register, visit www.mycareertransitions.com.
