FREE Health Screenings, Seminars Offered

   Mielcarek Eye Lifetime Vision Center, 319 W. State St., Media, is holding FREE cataract seminars Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. and Feb. 14 at noon.

   Learn about the different types of cataracts, what to expect during surgery and the newest techniques being used by Dr. Mielcarek and Dr.  Jindal to restore and improve  vision.

   Riddle Hospital nurses will be on hand to take FREE blood pressure screenings and give out vouchers for FREE cholesterol testing on Feb.  9, 9 to 11 a.m. at Rocky Run YMCA in Middletown Twp. No appointments are needed.

  James McGlynn, M.D., orthopedic surgeon at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, will present "Causes of and Treatment Options for Shoulder Pain" 6:30 p.m. Wed. (Feb. 23) at  Helen Kate Furness Library, 100 N. Providence Road, Wallingford. Free gifts and information will be available at the FREE presentation.
    In the presentation, Dr. McGlynn will discuss the structure of the shoulder and the origins of shoulder problems. He will also provide explanations of some of the most common causes of shoulder pain, including arthritis, dislocation, "frozen shoulder," impingement, rotator cuff injury, and tendonitis.
  Dr. McGlynn will also discuss how today's treatment options, including medication and arthroscopic surgical procedures, can treat shoulder pain and provide a quicker recovery than in past years. He will be available after the presentation to answer attendees' questions.
