FREE Health Program For Middle School Aged Kids

SPORT is a health promotion program for adolescents in grades 6-12 to improve their physical fitness, nutrition and sleep habits, to avoid alcohol and drug use, and to increase parent-child communication about healthy behaviors.
The main components of SPORT include a brief, one-on-one talk with a Prevention Specialist where youth develop their own “Fitness Prescription,” and a series of three postcards mailed each week to parents that contain fitness and health messages to help their son/daughter stay active and healthy. The program has been proven to result in achieving personal health goals, increased moderate and vigorous physical activity, reduction in alcohol, cigarette, and marijuana consumption, improved healthy eating, enhanced overall physical and mental health, and decreased risks associated with experiencing social and personal problems, injury, illness, and death, according to Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems.
SPORT is free to middle and high school youth in Delaware and Chester Counties. Those interested in having a Holcomb Prevention Specialist implement SPORT with their children may call Kate Kinsley at 484-444-0412.
SPORT is coordinated by Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems and funded by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
