Free GED Classes Offered At DCCC
In these difficult economic times, and amidst drastic cuts in funding, Delaware County Community College continues to offer free General Educational Development (GED) classes to residents in Delaware County. This program, funded by a federal grant issued by the PA Department of Education and the Bureau of Adult Basic Literacy Education, enables residents to a brighter future by completing their education.
Fall 2011 classes will be held in Chester, Media, Sharon Hill and Upper Darby. In addition, Basic Math classes are available at the Media and Sharon Hill locations for students needing additional help to prepare for employment or to review basic skills.
The program will introduce a new class to improve English language skills, including reading and writing.  These classes will be held at the Sharon Hill and Upper Darby locations.
The program is open to residents 18 years and older who have not gone through the traditional primary and secondary education process.  The GED classes, taught in a classroom setting, cover Social Studies, Science, Literature, Writing and Math. Students will also have access to a Career Counselor for guidance and recommendations throughout the program.
Schedules and registration forms may be obtained at any Delaware County Community College location or online at www.dccc.edu/delcoged. Classes fill quickly, and seats are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
