iConduct! Festival Concert

Featuring Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra

Join us this THIS FRIDAY night as the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra presents the 3rd concert in its FREE city-wide iConduct! Festival. Audiences can join Maestra Jeri Lynne Johnson on stage and receive a mini-conducting lesson in front of a live, world-class orchestra as they perform the iconic Symphony no 5 in C minor, Op. 67 by Beethoven. iConduct!™ Opens the Orchestra to Everyone!

Organ Day is this Saturday

Sat, Jun 9  |  11am - 5pm  |  Verizon HallThe 2nd Annual Organ Day to celebrate the Fred J. Cooper Memorial Pipe Organ begins with this month's PNC Grow Up Great, introducing the organ to our littlest music lovers with Rex: The King of Instruments! Other events throughout the day include organ performances by Curtis' gifted students and members of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Guild of Organists,an Organ Sing-A-Long, J.S. Bach's famous Toccata and Fugue in d-minor (the piece known for the opening to Walt Disney's Fantasia) as well as improvised organ music to silent movies along with many more musical surprises! 
The Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ Day is presented in association with the American Guild of Organists.

Sittin’ In

Philly phenomenon, Back 2 Basics, began its 14 year run at Silk City back in the early 90's. The brain child of DJ's King Britt & Dozia, the party infused early house, 70's funk, and Nu Soul Vinyl with improvised sets by the original renowned B2B band featuring Tim Motzer, Damon Bennett & Carlos Iziguirre. Now the B2B crew brings their party to Sittin' In at The Kimmel!

Drink specials from 8pm - 11pm: $4 beers and $5 wines.

Creative Music Program Year End Concert

Students of the Creative Music Program perform their final concert of the Kimmel Center's 10th Anniversary Season. The students showcase a selection of original works, composed throughout the year during their studies with band master Steve Tirpak and CMP Director Anthony Tidd.
The Philadelphia Songwriters Project
2012 Winners Showcase

The Philadelphia Songwriters Project presents the four winners for the 2012 Songwriters Competition. Congratulations to Kwesi Kankam, Joy Ike, Casey Cattie, and Anthony D’Amato! As part of their prize pack the winners will perform on the Commonwealth Plaza stage, the first in a series of concerts to take place throughout the region.

FREE TOURS: Go behind the scenes
Come out and visit the Kimmel Center campus for a behind the scenes look at where the magic happens! Free tours of the Kimmel Center are offered Tuesday through Sunday at 1pm. The Art & Architecture tour is offered on Saturdays at 10:30. Register at the information desk in the Plaza. Academy of Music tours are available on selected dates by reservation only.
