FREE Library Programs

Art Appreciation Program At Swarthmore Library
Swarthmore Library will present “Art Goes to the Library: An Art Appreciation Experience for Adults,” 2p.m., Thursday (May 26).
Swarthmore Library has partnered with the highly regarded Wallingford-Swarthmore Chapter of the Art Goes to School program to provide entertaining and informative art education programs for adults.  The programs are free and open to the public.
Debra Miller, a speaker for the PA Humanities Council, Adjunct Professor of Art History at  Rowan University and Adjunct Professor of Art History at the Hussian School of Art, will offer “Andy Warhol: Experimental Filmmaker.
Few people have had the opportunity to see the 1960s experimental films made by Pittsburgh native Andy Warhol. Nevertheless, Warhol's films have achieved near mythic proportions in our culture and have had a dramatic influence on contemporary movies and TV, affecting the transition from cinéma vérité to reality TV.
The PowerPoint® presentation will be given by an insider of the Warhol circle, close friend of the Warhol family and art historian who has authored several books on the artist and his work. It shows stills and frames from the little-seen films.
To register, call the library at 610-543-0436  or email swarthmore@delcolibraries.org.
