FREE Open Hoouse At Ridley Creek State Park
Ridley Creek State Park Holds Open House Sunday
Ridley Creek State Park draws more than a million visitors a year, offering a place to run, explore and find peace from a hectic world. Delaware Valley residents are invited to grab a friend and attend an Open House 1 to 3p.m., Sunday.
In an economy where personal budgets are being stretched, state park usage is on the increase. Simultaneously, state budgets are being trimmed and as a result, so are funds for State Parks. Visitors are invited to get involved and find out more about the groups who support the Park.
Local groups from in and around Ridley Creek State Park will come to educate the public on the recreational and volunteer opportunities available in and around the Park.
Held at the stunning Wilson Eyre-designed Mansion, known as the Park Office, the Friends of Ridley Creek State Park will offer trail maps, free water, copies of the Friends newsletters, flyers about upcoming events, and membership forms for people considering joining. There will be a drawing for a tree ready for planting.
The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation (the oldest working colonial farm in Pennsylvania), The Craft Guild, Chester/Ridley Crum Watershed Association, and the Delco Manning Trout Unlimited will discuss educational programs in the Park as well as tips for gardening and water management on properties. Also on display will be paintings by a park resident.
