Area residents seeking confidential legal advice will be able to speak for free with a volunteer attorney from the Philadelphia Bar Association.  Attorneys are available to offer information about any aspect of the law including family law, landlord-tenant, workers’ compensation and employment law, among other topics.
LegalLine P.M. is a public service sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association, providing residents with free, quick and accurate legal advice during convenient evening hours.  LegalLine P.M. is offered on the third Wednesday of every month from 5 to 8 p.m.  The program has existed for nearly 20 years, allowing volunteer attorneys to help thousands of callers through direct service or by referring them to an appropriate source.
In addition, during regular work hours, the Philadelphia Bar Association offers another program -- the Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) -- which provides lawyer referrals to area residents.  Staff attorneys take calls from the general public and refer callers to attorneys in private practice for a 30-minute consultation, for which the attorney agrees to charge a drastically reduced fee of $30.
If callers do not need an attorney or cannot afford one, they will be directed to a legal service organization, agency or other resource for assistance.  LRIS is available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., by calling (215) 238-6333.

The Summer of Peace Concert Series concludes Friday, Sept. 7 celebrating World Peace, outside the Seven Stones Cafe at the Plum Street Mall in Media. The event is part of a global celebration of the 30 Year Anniversary of the International Day of Peace. The Sept. 7 concert  will begin at 7 p.m. in the Plum Street Mall in front of Seven Stones Cafe and it is free.
Denise Yocco of Seven Stones cafe said. “I will begin the evening by lighting a candle and passing it around. I will have a presentation and an intention for the evening.
“Following me will be Laurie Pollock, a poet  and local peace activist. Laurie’s poetry reflects her explorations in Goddess/Earth based spirituality and imperfect, joyful journey towards nonviolence,”
The event will also include musical performances by Christine Campbell and John Swana, who Yocco said, “will comprise weaving a musical circle of peace and harmony through meditation, drumming, singing, chanting with winds, keyboard and bells. There will  be a special presentation honoring all beings silenced by violence. Please bring a drum or rattle and join in!”
Also playing at this event will be The Trolley Stoppers, Jeff Busa, Wayne Harvey, Bob Yarbrough and George Alexander.
The Trolley Stoppers describe themselves as “four guys who are passionate about singing a cappella. We do a little barbershop and a little doo-wop; some music from recent years and some from 50 or a 100 years ago. The Beatles, Billy Joel, and Tears for Fears are all in our repertoire.”
The Trolley Stoppers named their group in “honor of the trolley that runs down the middle of our town, Media.”
