Help Children Overcome Visit-To-The-Doctor Fears With Norwood Library’s FREE ‘Teddy Bear Checkup’ Day
   A Teddy Bear Checkup, sponsored by Taylor Community Foundation, will be held at the Norwood Public Library, 513 Welcome Ave, Norwood 10:45 am  Thurs. (August 2) for children and their teddy bears aged 3 to 6.  The Teddy Bear Checkup is a program designed to help preschool aged children learn more about a visit to the doctor's office.
 Children bring their favorite stuffed animal for a simulated medical examination which demonstrates how doctors and nurses care for patients.  Many children see a medical office as an intimidating place, but once their favorite friend gets a checkup, they discover that seeing the doctor is not so bad, after all.
  The program will begin with story time, followed by a "clinic visit".  Children bring their stuffed animals to the "clinic" for a routine health checkup, where the TCF team member demonstrates the procedure for an examination.  Children get hands-on experience with authentic medical equipment as they practice examining their "lovies" by checking blood pressure and listening to their heart and lungs.  "Parents" leave the clinic with their happy bears (or other lovies) in their arms.  Each animal receives a sticker and a certificate of good health as they check out.

FREE Bible School At Gateway

  Gateway Community Church will hold “Babylon — Daniel’s Courage in Captivity” at Vacation Bible School 6 to 8p.m., Aug. 13 through 17.
  Evenings will include snacks, crafts, games and songs.
  A closing celebration is set for 7p.m., Aug. 17 and will include a pageant and refreshments for both the children and their parents.

FREE Vacation Bible School At Folsom Church of Christ

  Folsom Church of Christ, 4th and Tasker Sts., Folsom,  will host a one day Vacation Bible School 10:30-2 Sat. (Aug. 4). Children can experience a play about Jonah and the Whale on stage and have fun with crafts and games. Lunch will be served.
