Hull is a psychic investigator and a medium/clairvoyant. She has had a lifelong interest in the paranormal and began psychic development study at the age of 13. Climate Change Documentary Slated At Neumann

Neumann University will hold a screening of the Academy Award-nominated documentary, “Sun Come Up,” 9:45a.m., Thursday (Oct. 4) in the McNichol Room of the Life Center.
The film depicts some of the world’s first “forced climate migrants,” inhabitants of the Carteret Islands just north of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.
The event is free and open to the public.
The national screening, scheduled for hundreds of locations across the country on the same day, and is organized by the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change in celebration of the Oct. 4 Feast of St. Francis, who was named “patron saint of those who promote ecology,” by Blessed Pope John Paul II in 1979.
The screening will be followed by a discussion, and viewers will explore ways to respond in light of Church teaching on climate change and the environment.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops points out in “Global Climate Change and Our Catholic Response” that recent popes “have continually emphasized the moral dimensions of climate change and our responsibility to care for creation.”
According to Dr. Elaine Grose, assistant professor of environmental studies at Neumann, “Pope Benedict XVI and the U.S. Bishops have recognized the human causes of climate change and understand it as a moral issue. They call on people of faith and good will to address this challenge.”
“Predictions of a warming planet are now becoming reality,” says Grose, “People around the world are experiencing increased drought, wildfire, flooding, food and water stresses, disease, and population displacement. These phenomena compromise key elements of Catholic social teaching, including our commitments to protect human life and dignity and to be especially mindful of the poor and vulnerable, who are disproportionately harmed by environmental degradation and climate change.”
The screening is sponsored by the University’s Care of Creation Committee. To reserve a seat, call Elaine Grose at 610-358-4240.

The Arc of Delco Announces ‘Family Forum’

The Arc of Delaware County will host “Family Forum” 10 am -12 pm Tues. (October 23) at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, 200 Yale Avenue, Morton. The purpose of this event is for self-advocates and their families to share their personal stories and concerns for the future in an effort to assist  Friel as he continues to develop a plan for the future of services within the DPW/ODP system in PA.  Deputy Secretary Friel believes that it is essential to hear our stories as he strives to create a stronger system of supports throughout our community.
The system is changing and it is important that all voices be heard. With the current budget limitations, people could be at risk of losing services, and many who are on the waiting list will continue to wait for services. The Deputy needs to hear how devastating this would be. They also need to hear how local residents feel the system should change to better serve  needs and allow for people to live more independent lives.
Light refreshments will be served. Reservations are required. To reserve a seat, call The Arc at 610-544-6600 or email skent@thearcofdelco.org by Wed., Oct. 17.

PA's Veterans Museum in Media Receives Donation; Museum Offers FREE Admission Each and Every Day!

The Pennsylvania Veterans Museum received a welcome donation from one of Media’s many financial institutions, DNB First Bank. Executive Vice President Albert Melfi presented the check. On hand to gladly accept the gift characterized as “generous,” were PVA Chairman Emeritus Ed Buffman, Chairman Arthur Burn and Museum Administrator Jolene Buffman.
Melfi has supported the PVM since its conception about a decade ago through DNB as well as another banking institution where he was previously employed.
“It’s important for people to be able to understand the trials and tribulations of all those who served, and especially for younger people to understand what it took to be free. This museum provides that opportunity through exhibits, films, education and other outreach,” said Melfi.
Although the PVM has a strong volunteer component, particularly of veterans who are on hand to answer questions and interact with visitors, there are operating expenses. In the economic climate of the last several years, grant funding has been more difficult to obtain.
The museum has pioneered several films featuring the Tuskegee Airmen and women in the military, both of which have been shown to military and civilian dignitaries in Washington, D.C.
In a classic “win-win” situation, the PVM benefits from any and all donations, corporate or private. Donors, such as DNB, qualify for an Educational Improvement Tax Credit, a program administrated by the commonwealth.
“This donation helps us do what do for young and old; the museum experience is good for all ages,” said Burn.
(For information on the museum, including hours open to the public (free admission), go to www.paveteransmuseum.org.)
