FREE Fine Arts Festival At Archmere Academy

Archmere Academy will showcase the work of its talented art students and graduates at the 4th annual Fine Arts Festival Saturday March 19, 2011.

Held in the beautiful setting of The Patio, a building on the National Historic Register, the Fine Arts Festival elegantly showcases the spirits of Archmere's talented and committed student-artists and musical performers. A public showing of the exhibit will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. followed by a private showing for members of the Archmere community from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. Archmere Band Director Dan Collins, as well as members of the Archmere Academy jazz band and the renowned Mastersingers will perform.

“Archmere artists continue to garner more prestigious Regional and National Awards in the National Scholastics Scholarship Art Awards Program than any other school in Delaware. The Festival displays our students' best works in a variety of mediums, both 2-D and 3-D,” says long-time Fine Arts faculty member and artist Terry Newitt.

In past festivals, prestigious world-class alums have proudly returned to campus to inspire the current community. This year, Archmere will proudly welcome back to campus Todd Coulson, '96 a Multimedia Developer at Blue Deisel, a technology, marketing and design company; Mimi D'Orazio ‘85, professor of architecture at Drexel University and the first female architect to come out of Archmere; and Marie Rim ’97, lead Costume Designer for Emmy award winning director Murphy Gibson and artist with several national exhibits.
