‘Lady With A Horn’ Featured In FREE Performance In Media Theatre's Crystal Room March 10

"Lady With A Horn," a 45- minute musical memoir, will be performed by female trumpet soloist Barbara Prugh in the Media Theatre’s Crystal Room, 7 p.m., Thurs. (March 10).  “The trumpets shall sound and we shall be heard”, says Prugh, quoting a well-known Bible verse.
“That is what the trumpet has been for me both spiritually and otherwise, an opportunity to be heard through a powerful artistic instrument.”
Prugh’s musical memoir fulfills a dream to create a venue that tells the story of her life as a professional female trumpet player. The selections chosen reflect her journey through her career and range from Harry James’ "Concerto" and Gershwin’s "Embraceable You" through a pops medley of Herb Albert, Chicago and the Beatles and more.
“It is an eclectic evening of music designed to educate the audience on the many facets of the trumpet in our culture, to inspire young people to play the trumpet, while entertaining and enlightening everyone”, says Prugh.
Accompanying Prugh during "Lady With A Horn" are Media Theatre’s resident musical director Tom Fosnocht playing keyboards, bass player Rubin Edwards and percussionist Mark Beecher. Trumpeters Chris Shiley and Chris Burkhardt supplement a dynamic presentation of Bugler’s Holiday while soprano Emily Samson Tepe and baritone Jeffrey Chapman perform arias by  Handel.
Prugh, a  Delaware resident, is a graduate of the University of Delaware and Eastman School of Music. She has served as a Principal trumpet for many of the regions finest professional ensemble including 20 years with the Reading Symphony and concert and recording series as Assistant Principal with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
