WHO:              Great opportunity for Philly musicians looking for opportunity to shine! Kimmel Center YouTube Talent Search seeks top regional talent and invites local bands, singers and musicians to post original videos to www.youtube.com/kimmelcenterarts, as part of the submission process, May 20-29.  

YOU choose the Winner whose video you like the most, thereby helping to declare the winner on June 10^th, by joining Kimmel Center’s Facebook page [www.facebook.com/KimmelCenterPhilly]

Winner will perform live - front and center - at the Kimmel Center’s Commonwealth Plaza Stage during an evening time slot of 2011 Summer Solstice Celebration, Sat., June 18, 2011.

WHEN:            Friday, May 20 – Sunday, May 29, 2011 (until 11:59pm EST)

WHAT:            The Kimmel Center YouTube Talent Search seeks regional top talent for chance to win opportunity to perform during Summer Solstice Celebration, Sat., June 18.   YOU choose the winner to perform live on Commonwealth Plaza stage during Solstice.  Interested applicants must post submissions on the official Kimmel Center YouTube channel.

PROCESS:

1.)                Join Kimmel Center Facebook page [www.facebook.com/KimmelCenterPhilly] and share with friends for up-to-date info about YouTube Talent Search and voting for top five video finalists.

2.)                Interested applicants must:

·                      Submit YouTube video: www.youtube.com/kimmelcenterarts

Top five videos will be judged on the following categories:

o        Theatricality (style, stage presence, attitude, presentation),

o        Musicality (overall sound, cohesiveness), and

o        Musicianship/Technique (intonation, rhythm, harmony, etc),

o        Overall Presence

Summer Solstice Celebration (Sat.-Sun, June 18-19) is a community wide event that kicks off the summer season with high energy performances and multiple forms of entertainment throughout the Kimmel Center’s venues and public spaces.  Solstice is a great opportunity for up-and-coming performers to expose their music to 5,000+ people in attendance and to perform on the coveted Commonwealth Plaza Stage. Philly artists such as Melody Gardot began their careers performing during the Kimmel Center’s Free at the Kimmel concerts on the Commonwealth Plaza stage.
