Free Health Fair

Williams, Pennsy Flea Market Host Upcoming Health Fair

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 12, 2011—State Sen. Anthony H. Williams and Pennsy Flea Market invite the public to attend their upcoming free health fair.

The inaugural Mary Mahoney Health Fair will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pennsy Flea Market, located at 1600 S. Warfield St. in Philadelphia.

Named for our nation’s first professionally trained African American nurse, the fair will focus on health awareness and early detection of health problems. There will be free blood pressure and memory screenings. Participants may bring their insurance card for an opportunity to get a flu shot courtesy of Rite Aid (covered by most insurance plans or $27) and will receive a free coupon book worth $100 for every flu shot.

“The key to living a healthy lifestyle is prevention. Taking a proactive approach to health benefits us all and sets us up for a better quality of life,” Williams said. “Please join me and take advantage of free health-related tests, advice, literature and demonstrations that will be offered at the health fair.”

This event is part of Williams’ “Health Awareness Month” initiative. Throughout October, the senator is hosting a series of free events to promote health and fitness. Visit www.senatoranthonyhwilliams.com for the full list of events.
