FREE Film Series Continues In Springfield
Peace Center of Delaware County First-Friday Large Screen Free Film Series continues 7p.m., Friday (Jan. 6) with “Of Gods And Men.” The screening will take place at 1001 Old Sproul Road, Springfield.
“Of Gods And Men” is based on a true story. In the 1990s, Algeria was gripped by a gruesome, protracted civil war between the government — which declared martial law after annulling elections it appeared to have lost — and a ruthless Islamist insurgency. The grim circumstances provide the setting for the internationally acclaimed film in which Catholic monks, who for generations lived in harmony with and provided service to the largely Muslim population, face death threats from Islamic terrorists and corrupt civil authority. The monks refuse to bow to the threat of violence, facing their fate with faith, courage, and love.
