FREE Vaccinations For Delaware County Residents
County Offers FREE Whooping Cough Vaccinations
With an alarming increase nationwide in the number of pertussis (whopping cough) cases, Delaware County Council and the Pennsylvania Department of Health are sponsoring a free TDAP booster shot program, 11a.m. to 2p.m., Friday (Oct. 8) at the County Government Center, adjacent to the courthouse in Media.
TDAP stands for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. People may be due for the adolescent-adult booster if they are between ten and 64 years of age and not fully immunized, a woman of child-bearing age, before or immediately after pregnancy, has had contact with pregnant women or infants, and is a family member or caregiver of an infant.
According to a press release on the vaccination program, the county has experienced an increase in the number of whooping cough cases, and public health experts fear this may get worse now that children are back in school.
Parking for the Oct. 8 event will be available in the Jury Parking garage at Front and Orange streets. Metered street parking is also available throughout Media. To access the FREE clinic, residents can enter the county complex through the front doors of the courthouse on Front Street or the main doors to the Government Center through the courtyard off Orange Street, at the rear of the courthouse.
