Ridley Park PD Accepting Applications For Citizens Police Academy
The Ridley Park Police Department is currently accepting applications for its Citizens Police Academy which will begin 7 pm Wed. (March 7) at the Police Station on Chester Pike in Ridley Park. The classes will run for eight weeks.
Various speakers are lined up and will explain what they do, how they do it and why. Citizens can learn how the police work in the community.
To get an applications, stop by Ridley Park Police headquarters or download one at http://www.ridleyparkpolice.org/ People do not have to be Ridley Park residents to attend.

Citizens Police Academy Open To Delco Residents
Brookhaven Borough Police and the PA State Police, Media barracks established the Citizens’ Police Academy 15 years ago and to date, there are over 500 citizens have participated. The local CPA is the only one in the state and possibly in the nation.
Classes are held 6 to 9p.m., Mondays either at the Brookhaven Municipal Center or the PA State Police, Media barracks.
There are two segments to the CPA, the basic classes and advanced classes.
The basic academy consists of classes on hiring procedures, Pre-patrol procedures, DUI, Investigation, Live Scan fingerprinting and digital photographing, a visit to the 911 center, a canine demonstration, fire marshal talk, crises negotiations, martial arts self defense, the State Police Mounted Unit, Tactical Response Team (SWAT), Victims Organizations, white collar crime, identity theft, composite sketching, State Police Helicopter, court room procedures, outlaw bike gangs, a ride-a-long program with the Brookhaven P.D., and graduation.
In the advanced class, citizens are taught first aid, CPR and firearms safety.
