Middletown Announces Annual Community Day

Middletown Township will host its 18th annual Community Day at Penn State Brandywine on Saturday, May 12 from 11a.m. to 3p.m.  The outdoor event brings together the community, local businesses and township government to celebrate the hometown pride of Middletown Township.
The day will kick off with opening ceremonies, which will include a moment of silence for Larry Weathers Jr., and Penn State Brandywine Founder and CEO John Vairo who both passed away in January.
The event will feature FREE local entertainment for all ages, including an art display from the Simon Youth Academy, fire engines, games and an appearance by “Stubby” the helicopter. Throughout the afternoon, local restaurants and vendors will provide food, games, prizes and more.
Community Day will feature a vast array of musical talents, including HCI Optimist Music Fest, which is comprised of several teenage bands from Penncrest High School. The event provides an opportunity for residents of Middletown to come together, enjoy each other and discover what the community has to offer.
During the event, Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit organization that provides homeless and low-income children with everyday essentials, will collect new and gently used toys, clothing, shoes and other basic needs for children in the five-county area.
The township credits its sponsors with making Community Day possible, especially the Shirley Booth Team, Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, Middletown Commons and Sally Turek from Trident Mortgage Company.  The event is organized by the Middletown Township Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Middletown Township Business and Professional Association.
The goal of Community Day is to provide a way for the community to come together and enjoy Middletown Township and all it has to offer in one great place -- Penn State Brandywine.
