Nominations Being Accepted For ‘American Pickers’ Show
The American Pickers are coming to Pennsylvania, and they are looking for rusty gold. Maybe even your rusty gold.
Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, who travel around the country picking through people’s junk on the popular History Channel show “American Pickers,” will be in Pennsylvania sometime within the next three months, said Jodi Friedman, a producer for the show. The exact dates have not yet been finalized.
Friedman said the show has not decided on a specific region of the state.
“All we know now is the state of Pennsylvania,” she said. “They will go where the collections are.”
For now, the show’s producers are looking for leads. That will determine where in Pennsylvania Wolfe and Fritz go.
“We’re looking for great characters with great, big collections,” Friedman said. “The messier the better. Nothing that’s too pristine. Our guys like to go digging. They like to find the rusty gold, they say.”
Now in its fourth season, “American Pickers” follows Wolfe and Fritz as they travel the back roads of America looking for hidden treasures in the most unusual places. They climb through people’s homes, barns, sheds, garages and warehouses looking for items they can buy on the cheap, then turn around and sell at a profit to collectors.
“Any place they go, they like to find memorabilia that’s special to that area,” Friedman said. “Anything that has local history is great.”
Among the items Wolfe and Fritz are on the lookout for are motor scooters, Harry Houdini items, old advertising signage, old rodeo items, motorcycles, bicycles, military items from the late 1970s or earlier, Civil War antiques and old toys.
Friedman pointed out that Wolfe and Fritz only pick private collections, so they’re not interested in stores, malls, flea markets, museums, auctions, businesses or anything open to the public.
They currently are not looking for farming/agriculture items, tools, glassware, appliances, tractors, crocks, stoves or country primitives.
Anyone interested in nominating either themselves or another person should contact Friedman via email at jfriedman@cineflix.com or by calling 646-493-2184.
“The best way is to email me,” she said. “That will go directly to me. Describe the collection, send photos if possible. People are more than welcome to refer people that they think may be great or write in for their own collection as well.”
