‘SonWest’ VBS at Middletown Presbyterian

  Middletown Presbyterian Church will host “SonWest” Vacation Bible School, 9a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, July 15-19 at the church, 273 S. Old Middletown Road (next to Indian Lane School).
  Area children are invited to discover a colorful old town where the excitement of the Wild West awaits. Attendees will travel down the trail through Old Testament with lively songs, crafts, games, Bible stories and snacks.
  As an added treat, there will be pony rides on Friday, courtesy of Trinity Carriage.

 Vacation Bible School at Norwood UM Church

  The Norwood United Methodist Church will host its Vacation Bible School, with the theme “Son West Roundup,” 9-11:30 am July 29- Aug. 2. Local children are invited to travel the trail through the stories of Moses and God’s ultimate plan for their lives by playing games, watching skits, and enjoying crafts and refreshments.

Busy July full of FREE events planned for kids at Tinicum Public Library

  Tinicum Memorial Public Library, 620 Seneca St., Essington, will welcome the interactive musical group "Makin' Music" on Wednesday, July 17, at  6:30 pm. All are welcome and no registration is required.
  The library will hold a Movie Week in July.  On Wed., July 24, at 3 pm, all ages are welcome to attend a showing of "Monster's Inc".  Then on Thursday, July 25 at 6 pm, the library will show "The Great and Poweful Oz.”
  A "Teddy Bear Clinic", a program presented by the Taylor Community Foundation, will come to Tinicum Library 11 am  Wed. (July 26). Children ages 3 to 6 are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animal for a check-up to show how real doctors and nurses care for patients.

OLP to celebrate Our Lady of Mt. Carmel feast day

  Our Lady of Peace Church, 200 Milmont  Ave., Milmont Park will celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Tues. (July 16) with Masses at 8:30 am and 12 noon, as well as 7 pm. At each of the Masses, there will be a Blessing of the Brown Scapular and the Investiture in the Brown Scapular.

  Light refreshments by the Grotto will be served following the 7 pm Mass. All are welcome.

Have Supper with Author at Furness Library

     Area women are encouraged to gather their girlfriends go to the Helen Kate Furness Free Library “Supper Club” to join Dana Bate, author of The Girls' Guide to Love and Supper Clubs, 7p.m., Thursday (July 25) in the Chadwick Auditorium.
   A "smart and compelling" (Publisher's Weekly) debut, The Girls' Guide to Love and Supper Clubs is a story about finding yourself, fulfilling your dreams, and falling in love along the way.
  Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk of any Delaware County library.
  Those who attend will dine on some of Hannah Sugarman's recipes and discuss writing with the author.

Fun nights in Collingdale

First Baptist Church, Clifton and Andrews avenues in Collingdale, will present some special programs this month. Starting the second week of July they will be hosting “Children Fun Night’s” at locations around the borough. These evening events will include Bible stories, songs, crafts, snacks and games in parks all around town.
The activities will begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude by 8 p.m. The first  date will be Thursday, July 11 at Westmont Drive Park. The following week we will meet on Tuesday, July 16 and Thursday, July 18 at Pusey Avenue Park.  The final week we will meet on Tuesday, July 23 and Thursday, July 25 at Pine Street and Pusey Ave.
Each week will conclude with a “Family Picnic and Animated Film Night” on Saturday evening at the church. These events will begin at 5 p.m. in the church Education Building. After a picnic dinner provided by the church, children from the church’s weekday events will present a special program. The evening will conclude with a showing of a ½-hour animated film on “Heroes of the Faith.” The dates for these are as follows: Saturday July 13 (‘The Eric Liddell Story’), Saturday July 20 (‘The Amy Carmichael Story’) and Saturday July 27 (‘The Samuel Morris Story’).

Annual novena at St. Anne's

The parish of St. Anne, 2328 E. Lehigh Ave. in Philadelphia, will host its annual novena in Honor of Good St. Anne from July 18-26. Novena services are at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Rev. Kevin MacDonald, C.Ss.R. will be the homilist. A solemn closing ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26, the Feast of St. Anne. It will be an evening of great solemnity.
The church will be open all day on the Feast of St. Anne for the veneration of the relic until 6 p.m.
