Christ UMC Hosts Free Dinner

  Christ United Methodist Church will host a free Community Dinner 5:30 to 7p.m., Wednesday (June 26) at the church, 600 E. Dutton Mill Road, Brookhaven.
  Church members will also provide childcare and homework help for kids.

Annual Marcus Hook Fishing Derby set

  Got any catfish? No? Well then, go fish.
  The annual Marcus Hook Father’s Day Fishing Derby is scheduled for Saturday, June 16, at the Market Square Memorial Park river pier.
  “There is no better way for fathers and their children to spend time together than fishing on the Delaware River and hauling in that award-winning fish,” said Council Member Joe Flynn, who coordinates the event.
  (The Derby is open to moms, too.)
  Sign-ups for the derby begin at 9a.m.; gates to the pier open at 9:45a.m.; and fishing begins at 10a.m. Prizes for biggest catfish will be awarded at 1:15p.m., shortly after fishing concludes at 1p.m.
  The derby will adhere to all rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Fish Commission, and all fishermen over the age of 16 will be required to have a valid state fishing license.
  There is no entry fee for the derby.
  The Marcus Hook river pier is at Delaware Avenue and Market Street behind the Marcus Hook Community Center. The pier extends 428 feet into the Delaware River.

Holy Cross Seniors host free trip to Atlantic City

  Holy Cross Seniors in Springfield will host a free bus trip to Showboat Casino in Atlantic City is scheduled for Oct. 28. Bus is free and all attendees will receive $5 in slot play.

  On Friday, June 28, Irene Molloy will perform a free concert 6-8 pm in Center Court at Granite Run Mall in Media. On July 5., Kwesi Kankam will perform a free concert, also from 6-8PM in Center Court

Money Matters and Magic

Sharon Hill, PA – Help your child learn about money through magic! The Sharon Hill Public Library will be hosting magician Craig Collis as he performs “Money Matters & Magic”. This fun and informative program uses magic, games, music and audience participation to explain to children concepts related to making choices about money - saving, spending and sharing. This program is fast-paced, entertaining and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
    The Sharon Hill Public Library will be hosting this program on June 25th @ 1:00 p.m. The library is located at 246 Sharon Avenue in Sharon Hill, 19079. Registration is requested.  Free Resume and Interview Info Available for Job-Seekers

  The first step to a great job is the resume.
  The Delaware County Workforce Investment Board through their CareerLink office, will offer a quick, on-the-spot review of resumes to provide improvement tips, Thursday, June 27 from 10 to 11a.m. at the CareerLink office.
  In addition, the Workforce Investment Board will provide a free workshop to teach job seekers successful interviewing skills. The workshop will be held 2  to 3:30p.m., Wednesday (June 26) at CareerLink. The workshop will assist residents in how to apply interviewing skills that will get the job. Attendees will learn to avoid the most common mistakes made in an interview and how to handle difficult questions with finesse. There will also be mock interview sessions designed to increase confidence.

Open House at Rose Valley Pool

  The Rose Valley Swimming and Tennis Club will host an Open House on the evening of Monday (June 17) for members and other families interested in the club’s summer youth programs. All are invited to the club for children’s “just for fun” Ribbon Races starting in the pool at 5p.m., followed by a potluck dinner.
  Guests are invited to check out the pool and its swimming and tennis programs and junior teams, which begin their seasons that day.
  For the first time in many years, the Club will offer small group swimming lessons open to club members and non-members. Lessons will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Session 1 runs from June 24 through July 11 (no class July 4); Session 2 is July 15 through Aug. 1.

 Vacation Bible School at Life Christian Fellowship offers week of fun

 Life Christian Fellowship, 607 W. Springfield Rd., Springfield, will hold a Vacation Bible School 9:30 am to 12:30 pm June 24-28. Local children can learn God’s victorious power isn’t a fairy tale through songs, games and Bible-learning activities.

  Local residents can “sponsor a child” by offering $10 to help cover the cost of attendance for one camper.Groups will be made up by age and ability and will run for a half-hour between 9:30 and 10:30a.m. and 7 and 8p.m. Cost is $70 for Session 1 and $75 for Session 2.
