Free Resume and Interview Info Available for Delaware County Job-Seekers

  The first step to a great job is the resume.

  The Delaware County Workforce Investment Board through their CareerLink office, will offer a quick, on-the-spot review of resumes to provide improvement tips, Thursday, June 27 from 10 to 11a.m. at the CareerLink office.

  In addition, the Workforce Investment Board will provide a free workshop to teach job seekers successful interviewing skills. The workshop will be held 2  to 3:30p.m., Wednesday (June 26) at CareerLink. The workshop will assist residents in how to apply interviewing skills that will get the job. Attendees will learn to avoid the most common mistakes made in an interview and how to handle difficult questions with finesse. There will also be mock interview sessions designed to increase confidence.

Tyler Arboretum will celebrate their dedication to our nation on July 4, 2013 with free admission for all active duty, guard and reserve military members, retirees and veterans when they show a current valid military, retiree or Veterans Administration identification card or a Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans or American Legion membership card.

  “We at Tyler Arboretum are very grateful for the continued service military and veterans provide to our communities and our country and we are proud to give back to them on our nation’s birthday,” said Tyler Arboretum Executive Director Rick Colbert. “It is our hope that vets will think of Tyler as a sanctuary of peace and beauty to come to and reconnect with nature.”

FREE Party on the Porch at Historic Leiper House

  The 1785 Thomas Leiper House will host its annual summer open house with a Party on the Porch 7 to 9p.m., Friday (June 28). There will be no formal tours; guests can wander the grounds, look at the outbuildings, read information about the Leiper family, and enjoy refreshments on the big side porch overlooking Crum Creek.

  Dean Maola, a Strath Haven High School student, will play jazz guitar for easy listening. There is no charge, although donations for house maintenance are always welcomed.

  The Homegrown Mission Trip of Olivet Presbyterian Church, 1001 Washington Ave, Prospect Park, will host a Senior Fellowship Dinner 5 pm Tues. (July 9). The free dinner, which includes entertainment, is open to all seniors in the community, but they must make a reservation.

Crozer, PA – Do you want to spend your life living pay check to pay check or do you want to be able to “live large”?  Learn the basics of personal finance and take the first step toward a successful financial future.  This two part session will provide information, activities and tools to increase your financial savvy. 

The J. Lewis Crozer will be hosting this two part program on July 17 & July 24 from 1 -2:30 p.m. The library is located at 620 Engle Street in Chester.
