Free food? Free household goods and other stuff? Free entertainment? Media’s FREENMarket to offer all things free!

 Everything will be free at the 3rd annual Media FREEMarket 2-5 pm Sun. (Sept. 14) at Providence Friends Meeting, 105 N Providence Rd, Media. Everyone is invited to bring something, take something, either or both.
   People are asked to bring their skills and talents and offer them at no cost. Attendees can play a song, give a massage, read a poem, juggle or share their chess skills- the choices are plenty.
  Those coming are also asked to bring their savories to share, including homemade baked goods, garden bounty and even eggs if their hens lay many.
  Locals are also asked to clean out their house, shed, car, office, basement and bring their extra stuff to give away. People can also bring their garage sale leftovers to help out neighbors who may need or want the items, or share their extra hand-made items. All stuff will be welcomed at the FreeMarket before 4 pm.

Book Bag Giveaway in Chester
  The City of Chester will hold its 9th Annual Book Bag Giveaway 3 to 6p.m., Sunday (Aug. 17) at 501 Yarnall St., Chester.
Children must be accompanied by a parent and there is a limit of three bags per family. Families must participate in a “Resource Treasure Hunt.”

Free Hawaiian Luau Dance Party Set
  Area residents age 50 years and older can hit the dance floor at the Redwood Community Playhouse Center for a Hawaiian Luau Dance Party 7 to 9:30p.m., Thursday (Aug.  21) with Live Band  Peter Thomas  performing and Line Dancing with Sal April.
Refreshments will be served along with dancing to Hawaiian songs, oldies, ballroom, swing and line dancing music.
All events at the Redwood Playhouse are free to Delaware County residents and are sponsored by Delaware County Council and the Parks and Recreation Department.

Prospect  UM Church to hold free movie nights
 The Prospect  United Methodist Church will hold free movie nights at 7 pm Aug. 22 (“Slow Fade”); Aug. 29 (“God is Not Dead”) and Sept. 5 (“Heaven is For Real”).
  The church is at 800 Lincoln Ave. in Prospect Park (across from Wawa). Everyone is welcome.

Ridley Twp. Library to hold social media class for beginners
  Ridley Township Library will present “Social Media 101- Getting Started on Facebook and Twitter” 6:30 pm  Wed. (Sept. 10). Presented by Corey Pontz, a graphic and web designer, who owns CWP Design Studio in Bala Cynwyd, and Crystal Dove, a social media expert and owner of Marketing Queen Consulting in Philadelphia, the class will teach how to open accounts on social networking sites, create profiles, manage privacy settings, upload photos and search for and find friends.

Movie Night at Gateway Features ‘God’s Not Dead’
 Gateway Community Church will host a free Movie Night 6:30p.m., Saturday (Aug. 23), featuring the recently-released movie “God’s Not Dead.”
The story involves present-day college freshman and devout Christian, Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper), who finds his faith challenged on his first day of Philosophy class by a dogmatic and argumentative Professor Radisson (Kevin Sorbo). Radisson begins class by informing students that they will need to disavow, in writing, the existence of God or face a failing grade. As other students in the class begin scribbling the words “God Is Dead” on pieces of paper as instructed, Josh find himself at a crossroads, having to choose between his faith and his future.

Free Workshop for Job-Seekers
 A Civil Service Workshop for Delaware County residents is set for 1:30 to 3:30p.m., Wednesday (Aug. 27). This free workshop will include reviewing open test announcements, the application process, how to schedule a test, types of tests, what happens after testing and test-taking advice and reminders.
The workshop will be held at the PA CareerLink office, 701 Crosby Street, Suite B, Chester.

St. Sharbel’s Plans Lebanese Festival
  St. Sharbel will host its Annual Lebanese Festival noon to 11:30p.m., Saturday and 13:30to 9p.m., Sunday (Aug. 23 and 24) on the church grounds at 3679 Providence Road, Newtown Square.
Yousef Shamoun and his band will provide music and there will be fun and games for all ages along with authentic Lebanese food and items for sale.

Panel Offers Information on Aging and Caregiving
  Senior Community Services, a non-profit that has served seniors in Delaware County for nearly 40 years, is teaming up with St. Katharine Drexel Parish to offer an informative panel on aging and caregiving issues.
The event will be held 11a.m., Tuesday (Aug. 19) at St. Katharine Drexel School, 1920 Providence Ave., Chester in the school’s gymnasium.
Representatives from the following organizations will make up the panel: Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA), Senior Community Services Long Term Care Department, Family Caregiver Support Program, Chester Senior Center, Home Helpers (Media) and Jefferson Elder Care.

Job Search Support Available
Area residents are welcome to attend an orientation to the programs and services provided at the PA CareerLink Delaware County located in the Workforce Entry Center of the Delaware County Community College in Media.
Visitors can utilize the state-of -the-art Career Resource Center, meet the knowledgeable team, learn about career development and job search workshops, individual career counseling and assessment services, basic personal computer skill development classes and training opportunities that may be available.
Orientation sessions will be held 9 to 11a.m., on Aug. 21, and 28.

 The Scott Arboretum is an educational garden of ideas and suggestions. Creativity abounds in free art show at Schoolhouse
Senior Community Services will present, “Creativity Abounds at Schoolhouse,” 2-5 pm  Friday, Sept. 19. This free art show will feature works created by artists from Schoolhouse Center. Works will include oil and watercolor paintings, mosaics, jewelry and woodcarvings. The event is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
